Race against Dementia

Race Against Dementia LogoMotor racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart is facing, in his words, 'the greatest challenge of my life' following the diagnosis of Helen, his wife of 56 years, with dementia. Hear his explanation of the reasons why he wants to use F1 fast-track development to assist finding medical solutions to the problems, in his new charity 'Race Against Dementia'
Watch the film here - it's three minutes well spent.

Dementia shatters lives. In the time it takes to complete a pit stop at the Monaco Grand Prix, one more person develops the condition, dealing a cruel blow to another family.
There are 50 million people living with the condition across the globe, and every minute this figure is rising.  But behind each statistic is a real person and a heart-breaking story. A wife, a husband, a father, a mother.  Shared memories, passions, ambitions and hopes that are slowly fading away. A diagnosis of dementia doesn’t just impact one person: its effects ripple through entire families, wreaking devastation on countless lives.
We can’t just talk about dementia. Caring is not enough.
We have to find a solution and a new dimension of research is the only way.
