500 Friends target

INFORMATION SESSIONS PLANNED TO CREATE 500 DEMENTIA FRIENDS IN SOMERTON

Information Sessions will be held at ACEArts on 25th June at 10.30am; and 17th July at 6pm.

People in Somerton wishing to join the Dementia Friends already in the area can attend an information session at ACEArts in the coming months.

The sessions are being run by Shirley Chapman, Dementia Champion and Trustee of ACEArts. Each session lasts 45-60 minutes and covers the five things everyone should know about dementia through some fun activities. At the end of each session participants can turn their understanding into action by committing to a dementia friendly action, and everyone who does becomes a Dementia Friend and will receive a badge, information card and action mailer.

Alyson Martin, Trustee of ACEArts, and joint acting Chair of SADAA, said, "We are leading the initiative for Somerton to become a Dementia Friendly town and are delighted to offer these Information Sessions at the gallery. Somerton already has around 100 Dementia Friends, and we are hoping that through these Sessions and subsequent activity we can increase that number to 500."
